Opened in 2017, Southern Trail Distillery is owned and operated by Richie and Rachael Copsey and located on their family farm in Mechanicsville, MD. This is a true family-run business with their two daughters, Ryan and Kylie, helping with the distilling process and assisting with events. Southern Trail distills and bottles fl avored moonshine, vodka, spiced rum, and whiskey. All their grains are locally sourced from farmers in St. Mary’s County. Southern Trail offers tastings and has a cocktail bar in the tasting room to host public and private events.
Cocktail classes and tastings at Southern Trail Distillery are offered in collaboration with Bashes by Brooke Brown. As the owner, Brooke teaches mixology courses around the Southern Maryland region, creating signature cocktail menus and specializing in consulting for local restaurants and bars. Rachael and Brooke have collaborated since 2018 creating delicious cocktails and hosting fun mixology classes at the distillery.
