Jacklyn D. Miles, CEO of Miles and Chesley Consulting Services (MCCS), LLC is thrilled to report that the first annual “Women Inspiring Women” Conference was a huge success! Women (and men), from as far reaching as Texas, collaborated to network, exchange ideas, gain insight and knowledge from accomplished leaders. This year’s inaugural theme was “Helping Others to Rise Up” of which was a testimony of the Conference participants.
The Conference was precisely planned and executed, down to every last detail thanks to Alice Bankins and Nitt Chuenprateep of MCCS. Oda Solms, Publisher of Southern Maryland Woman Magazine, was the Mistress of Ceremony and kept the audience engaged and efficiently moving from one activity to the next.

Ms. Miles kicked off the conference with a heartfelt welcome to all attendees, followed by recognition of the trailblazing women that have locally and nationally impacted the world. Setting the stage for the Conference’s theme, Jada Cousins recited Maya Angelou’s poem, “Still I Rise.”

The camaraderie, inspiration, and positive energy permeated the room throughout the Conference. The highly recognized speakers engaged the audience resulting in various emotional responses throughout the day.

The keynote speaker was Shaniqua Cousins. Shaniqua is an Entrepreneur, Author, Leader, and Inspirational Speaker who is a Life Coach on purposeful living, enjoying life, goal achievement, self-improvement, and more. Ms. Cousins’ theme, “What’s Required to Inspire,” left attendees inspired and determined to seek their purpose and live their dreams.

Kiara Marshall shared her “One Step at a Time” life experience of how she has endured a life-altering injury and met each obstacle with determination and strength. This resulted in Ms. Marshall living her dream, as a motivational speaker and model.
Debora (DJ) DeLong, motivational speaker and Laugh Coach, had the audience in uncontrollable laughter as she shared “What‘s In Your Toolbox” – discussing the 12 essentials to living the life you imagined with confidence.

Attendees were given the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion and two workshops, hosted by incredible speakers who are experts in their fields:

• Fontella Moody – “Be A Saver and Take Your Retirement to the Next Level”
• Dr. I. Monet Ouwinga – “The Second Coming Out – Mental, Sexual, and Overall Women’s Well-Being”
• Adrienne Somerville – “Political Savvy – Networking and Mentoring”
• Monica Taylor – “Having It All – Work/Life Balance”
• Tammy Wright – “Fitness, Wellness, and Self-Worth”
The conference concluded when the attendees all joined hands in one large circle and embraced the song “I Rise Up” by Angela Day, rendered by Laryssa Somerville and Krysten Colon.

Jacklyn D. Miles would like to recognize and thank all the sponsors who contributed to the Conference’s success. Among the sponsors were Wear Your Spirit Warehouse, Holiday Inn – Solomons, Southern Maryland Minority Chamber of Commerce, The Collins Family, Southern Maryland Woman Magazine, Patrick Haley Insurance & Financial, Beth Graeme Photography, Forrest Technology Center and Your Time Medical.
