Do you need to enhance or possibly re-think your strategy in order to grow your business?

The holiday season is upon us and if you are like me, this is your favorite time of year! Planning holiday gatherings with family and friends, scouring through delicious recipes, and shopping for the perfect gifts; all while remembering the many things you are thankful for.

During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, it can be easy to get distracted with the holiday hustle and forget about that business bustle. Keep your business goals top of mind, while still enjoying “the most wonderful time of the year,” because the New Year will be here before you know it. You will feel much more confident when that ball drops at midnight, if you have your business plans in check and maybe even a few business-focused New Year’s resolutions.

So now the big question, what should you do to prepare yourself for the New Year? To start, take a look at this past year that is coming to an end. What about your business worked well that you definitely want to do again? What about your business do you wish you did differently? Now is the time to take note and make changes to better your business in the coming year.

Since it is where my experience and expertise lie, I am going to ask you to take a minute and think about your integrated marketing strategy. Do you need to enhance or possibly re-think your strategy in order to grow your business? It is essential to have a consistent, unified brand message and design across all of your channels of communication. First off, make sure you are happy with your branding and if you are not, it may be time for a refresh! Secondly, make sure you are reaching your customers effectively through advertising, direct marketing, social media, sales promotions, and public relations. I know most businesses do not have unlimited budgets, but remember marketing is crucial for business growth and there are ways to successfully market your business without breaking the bank.

Now let’s talk about events! Similar to your family and friends, you probably find yourself seeing more of them during the holiday season; well the same goes for your customers. Whether you are catching-up at holiday parties, interacting with them at your place of business, or sending season’s greetings, you are crossing paths frequently with your customers. When the holiday season comes to an end and you can finally relax and catch your breath, make sure not to forget all of those customers that have supported your business. I am sure the last thing you want to do after a season full of holiday gatherings is plan another event.  However, remember during the lull of those winter months, you want to continue to keep your customers involved and engaged with your business. Planning a winter or early spring event can keep your business top of mind, especially at the start of the New Year.

Marketing your business successfully is a year-round responsibility and certainly not the only thing you need to look at from a business perspective when planning for the year ahead. Being a business owner myself I know that running a business can be one of the most challenging and rewarding endeavors, so don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help when you need it. Who knows, it may just be the help you need to grow your business and give you one more thing to be grateful for this time next year.

Whether you are holiday hustling or business bustling, enjoy every minute of this wonderful season!
